The MedStar Union Memorial Foot and Ankle fellowship program, founded in 1989, enters another year with a renewed zeal to fulfill its mission of training the future leaders in foot and ankle. We have added outstanding clinical and research faculty to deliver a superior educational experience. Opportunities for clinical research, biomechanical studies and orthobiologic investigations sets our institution apart from the others.

The STAT lab continues to produce award-winning research and publications. Our program’s orthopedic orthobiologic laboratory is a one-of-a-kind facility dedicated to the foot and ankle. We hope to continue to explore and create new technologies, not only in orthopedic procedures, but also in implantable hardware and tissue engineering in these environments.

Collaboration with the undergraduate and graduate programs at both Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University have been strengthened and will further benefit research and development. Interaction with scientists and engineers in the orthopedic industry complete a well-rounded experience for our fellows.

Our program is ACGME-accredited, which participates in the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS). Match is administered by the San Francisco Matching Service (SFMS). In accordance with the guidelines that have been established by AOFAS, we cannot formally consider you for a fellowship position unless you have registered with SFMS.

Applications should be submitted through the San Francisco Match.
